Frequently asked questions
When should I use urgent care instead of an emergency department?
The listed urgent-care centres are intended for prompt assessment of acute or non-routine concerns that need more than routine care. Vancouver City Centre is explicitly not presented as an emergency service. If symptoms may be life-threatening or require immediate hospital treatment, seek emergency care instead.
Can I get urgent medical care online in Vancouver?
AVEE HEALTH provides virtual doctor consultations across British Columbia, including prescription refills, lab requisitions, referrals and medically supported notes or forms. Virtual care may not suit concerns requiring a physical examination, testing or immediate on-site treatment.
Which clinics accept walk-ins?
Vancouver City Centre Urgent Primary Care Centre accepts walk-ins, and Choice Medical Clinic offers family-doctor and walk-in physician care. Granville Medical Clinic is described as a walk-in clinic, while other centres may use appointments or their own access process.
Do urgent-care clinics provide medical notes?
AVEE HEALTH specifically lists sick notes, return-to-work certificates, school absence notes and work-accommodation letters, delivered electronically after a doctor’s evaluation. Do not assume every in-person urgent-care clinic provides the same documentation.
Where can children receive acute care?
Teck Acute Care Centre is a hospital facility focused on pediatric care, including neonatal intensive care. The Kids Clinic and City Pediatric Specialty Group provide broader pediatric services, but they are not described as urgent-care centres in the same way.
